Jared Leto Extreme Weight Loss For Matthew McConaughey AIDS Biopic

Matthew McConaughey's costar in his latest movie "Dallas Buyer's Club", Jared Leto, is apparently following in Matthew's emaciated footsteps.

Jared unveiled his shockingly anorexic look at the "Gotham Independent Film Awards" on Monday, sparking concern from both movie fans and health experts at his dramatic weight loss transformation to portray cross-dressing AIDS victim, Rayon, in the biopic.

"He does look like he's lost a lot weight. On a slight frame, as little as 10 pounds can really make a big difference," Jackie Keller, CEO of meal delivery service NutriFit, was quoted as saying.

"All that being said, as a slender man, Jared obviously doesn't need to lose weight except to play the role of a skinny, underfed guy with hollowed out checks and a long face", Keller claimed.

"Jared can't be more than 120 pounds in theses photos," added nutritionist Majid Ali, who has not treated Leto."To me he looks pretty gaunt like someone who has been, or is ill."

Leto hasn't had a major movie role since he played John Lennon assassin, Mark David Chapman, in 2007's Chapter 27, when the 5'9" actor gained a whopping 67 pounds to fit the killer's doughy physique.

At the time, Leto, 40, admitted that his obsession to envelop himself in the part had taken a toll on his health, telling the Los Angeles Times: "I'm not sure it was the wisest choice.

"A friend of mine was recently going to gain weight for a film, and I did my best to talk him out of it. Just because you can lose the weight doesn't mean the impact it had on you isn't there anymore." By the end of filming, Jared could no longer walk to the set.

Five years later, Leto, who even waxed his facial hair and donned nail polish off-set to play the drag queen, has gone to equally dangerous lengths that could permanently destroy his metabolism and digestive system in the future.

"All the stars of Dallas Buyer's Club are losing weight and again, while it is easier for a man to do this than a woman and most likely safer, it is still dangerous as their age due to issues with heart attacks, dehydration and sexual dysfunction," warned nutritional expert Dr. Fred Pescatore.

What do you think? Does Jared Leto put his life in real danger as health experts claim?
